I am currently a Junior studying Graphic Design at Northern Michigan University. I believe that whether the goal is to express a specific emotive quality, to communicate important information, or to influence an audience, storytelling is key. With an app prototyped to support a user through a conference, an e-commerce website that catalogs and sells meaning, an illustrated map of Lake Superior shipwrecks, and a peanut butter snack pack, the story is revealed through tactics such as hierarchy and line-weight in order to create emphasis and guide the viewer. Along with shape, texture, and color, which work to create tone and character, these visual strategies come together to shape a narrative
and tell a story.
